Zdenek Weiss studied physics at the Charles University, Prague (1978-1983), and holds a PhD. in plasma physics (1992). From 1992 till 2017 he worked for the instrument company LECO at various positions in Germany, USA and the Czech Republic.
In 2017 he joined the Institute of Physics of the Czech Academy of Sciences, Prague, as research scientist. His main field of interest is Glow discharge emission spectroscopy, its methodology, analytical applications and the fundamentals. His present research is focused on systematic analysis of glow discharge spectra and the excitation mechanisms involved.
